Cayman Islands ends 2025 on a high, setting December record

Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman.

Over 50,000 visitors stayed overnight in the Cayman Islands last month, setting a new December record and delivering over 5% growth against December 2024

Rosa Harris, director of tourism, described the year as a whole as "exceptional... for the Cayman Islands, not only because of our record-breaking December results, but due to the consistent demand we saw from our key markets throughout the year.

"We are especially proud of the confidence shown by our carriers, who expanded service and introduced new routes that created meaningful opportunities for growth. With robust airlift projected for early 2026, we are well-positioned to continue this positive momentum."

That carrier confidence was evident with six new routes connecting the islands to North America launching in December alone, with over 88,000 seats representing a 16% monthly capacity increase against the same month in 2024.

January to April of this year is expected to see a 18.1% capacity increase against 2025, speaking to the "positive momentum" Rosa discussed.

An extra 500 keys will shortly boost accommodation capacity with the openings of One|GT and Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Resort & Spa.
