The festival recorded a 17% increase in arrivals from international travellers compared to 2025
Rio De Janerio accounted for 36% of all arrivals; Of the 300,000 foreign tourists who came to Brazil for the festivities, 110,000 had Rio de Janeiro as their destination. This means that four out of 10 international tourists picked Rio de Janeiro as their carnival destination.
The economic impact of Carnival tourism in 2026 reached $186 million throughout the entirety of Brazil. Roughly $67 Million was generated in the capital city of Brasilia solely from the spending of foreign tourists.
Embratur’s President, Marcelo Freixo, said, “We are reaping the rewards of an active international promotion policy. Carnival is our greatest cultural showcase, and today it is also consolidating itself as a strategic engine for generating revenue, jobs, and development. The world has once again chosen Brazil.”
