The airline is adding more European hotspots to its destination portfolio for next summer, with three new cities launching early next year
From May 27th, American Airlines will return to Reykjavik for the first time since 2019, flying from Philadelphia to Iceland’s capital.
American will also be the first US airline to connect directly to Vienna from May 6th, 2027.
Announced earlier this year, American will also fly to Porto next summer, becoming the airline’s second Portuguese destination alongside its daily Lisbon service from Philadelphia.
José A. Freig, vice president of international and business partner operations, said, ““Each summer, we want to offer our customers from both the U.S. and Europe the opportunity for new adventures. Next year, adding Reykjavík, Vienna and Porto to our portfolio gives our customers even more amazing destinations to explore – whether that’s traversing the volcanoes of Iceland, enjoying a slice of Sachertorte and the Opera in Vienna or walking the beautiful cobbled streets of Ribeira.”
In addition to the three new cities, the airline is adding new routes to popular cities, including services from New York JFK to Amsterdam and Nice, as well as services from Charlotte to Barcelona, allowing the airline to offer more than 80 peak daily trans-Atlantic flights from the US throughout summer.
2027 will also see the airline expand its presence at London Heathrow with the reintroduction of a fourth daily flight between Heathrow and JFK.
