Delegates at this year’s Advantage conference can give back to the local Maltese communities by joining one of three initiatives as part of its Travel is a Force for Good campaign
Advantage has partnered up with three NGOs – Coast is Clear, Friends of the Earth, and Zibel – in Malta to allow delegates the opportunity to give back to local communities during the conference.
Coast is Clear is a Maltese environmental NGO committed to preserving the biodiversity on the island. Delegates will have the chance to help the organisation by visiting a rural site to help with tree planting and clean ups. So far the NGO has plant over 550 trees and organized 60 clean ups, collecting 27 tonnes of waste from around the island.
Delegates can become a Friend of the Earth by helping the organisaton with its Giving Garden initiative, a project where a team of volunteers help better local environments by promoting the importance of gardens in urban areas, particularly in residential zones. Those who wish to participate will visit and tend to gardens and learn more about how the project is helping to increase green spaces in Malta.
Founded in 2017, Zibel aims to reduce the amount of waste generated on the islands. So far, Zibel has organised over 70 large-scale land and sea clean-ups and disposed of over 131 tons of waste. Delegates can participate in a large-scale beach clean-up at Golden Bay where they will work at different stations.
Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO of the Advantage Travel Partnership, said, “We proudly introduced our groundbreaking 'Travel is a Force for Good' initiative at our conference last year in Cancun, and it will now play a transformative part of conferences going forward. This visionary initiative is fundamentally about meaningful engagement with, and sustainable support for local communities through a carefully curated series of immersive experiences, such as authentic cultural exchanges, impactful community service projects and mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses and artisans.”
“When we come together in the beautiful island nation of Malta, we gather not merely as industry professionals, but as a dynamic global community united in our passion to exchange innovative ideas and collectively chart an inspiring course towards a more sustainable and prosperous future for the travel industry and the diverse communities we proudly serve.”
The Advantage Conference will take place at the Hilton Malta in St. Julian’s from May 13th-16th, 2025.
