ABTA has announced 12 destinations to watch for 2020 in its new Travel Trends Report.
The list is compiled independently by a group of ABTA experts and includes countries and regions celebrating important anniversaries, providing the backdrop to blockbuster films as well as stunning destinations that can be accessed by public transport and ripe for discovery.
A strong theme with this year?s destination choices is less crowded or less visited countries which pack a great deal in. Georgia, Grenada, The Netherlands, Singapore and Uruguay all offer a very diverse range of experiences providing travellers with a great holiday over a short period of time.
The report also features lesser-known areas in favourite holiday destinations, including the rugged landscapes of Basilicata in Southern Italy and the many historic cities and towns close to the Spanish capital Madrid.
Victoria Bacon, director of brand and business development at the travel association, said: ?The 12 destinations in this year?s report offer great examples of the wide range of experiences and destinations on offer around the world, all readily accessible from the UK.
?Historic cities, idyllic beaches, rugged landscapes, welcoming people and delicious cuisines feature in our choices and we hope they will provide some inspiration for holidaymakers looking to travel somewhere a little different, but also very special in 2020.?
The 12 destinations are: Basilicata, Chicago and Lake Michigan, Georgia, Grenada, Madrid and its neighbouring cities, Morocco, Namibia, Singapore, South Korea, The Netherlands, Uruguay, and Vienna.
