A-ROSA River Cruises is featuring electric bicycles on the river Seine, following a successful summer trial.
The rollout will see 11 e-bikes permanently offered on board A-ROSA VIVA, the first in the fleet to feature them. Each bike is fitted with a compact electric motor, offering 250 watts of power, enabling riders to pick which level of assistance they require whilst riding. It is also possible to switch the motor off altogether, for those who want a harder workout. The move follows growing demand from customers for bike tours in many of the cities and destinations visited.
Lucia Rowe, the cruise line?s head of UK and Ireland, said: ?Exploring a destination or city on a bike is an incredible way to experience it. We offer bike tours on all our ships, but these new e-bikes make our excursions even more accessible and will appeal to a more varied audience. As they have a motor, the bikes offer assistance for those riders who may previously have felt they don?t have the fitness or confidence to take part. We are delighted to have electric bikes on the Seine now and are looking at the possibility of rolling them out on other rivers and vessels.?
A range of different bike excursions are offered on the Seine, including a three and a half hour ?Bike Tour through Normandy? and a three and a half hour ?Bike Tour to Giverny and Claude Monet?s Garden?. All bike tours are bookable on board and are accompanied by a guide, plus helmets and water are provided.
