Airline JetBlue has announced its new flight routes from London to New York and Boston will go ahead in 2021.
Its chief executive Robin Hayes spoke exclusively at the World Travel Market Virtual conference in London, saying the service would disrupt the traditional London to New York services offering much lower fares.
Defying industry predictions, the low-cost American airline is optimistic that travel will bounce back next year due to a pent up demand to travel.
Mr Hayes confirmed the company was committed to launching in 2021 saying it was the perfect time to introduce the UK to JetBlue. He said another announcement would follow to confirm which London airport they would serve but hinted they had a path into more than one.
He said: ?There?s a lot of service between London and New York but the fares are extremely high. London is a huge market: even some lowering of the fare will have a stimulation effect and we plan to make some significant downward adjustments to premium fares.
?It?s what our customers are asking for. We think that by the time we get to next summer there?s going to be a tremendous pent up demand for travel.
?Q3 is the perfect time to introduce the UK and Europe to flying JetBlue. We are going to disrupt what people are used to - giving people a cheaper way to fly to the US.?
