VisitPortugal promotes sustainable tourism with Rout-e Project

VisitPortugal has partnered with Full Fixtures to promote The Rout-e Project - helping to strengthen Portugals position as a sustainable tourism destination.

The Rout-e Project involves five sustainable routes that will be travelled by visitors across five days, on high-performance, fully electric motorcycles. This project promotes responsible travel, the surrounding nature, local cuisine, local products from each region and social responsibility.

The first tour is taking place in the Porto & North region this week passing through the cities of Porto, Douro, Arouca and Gaia in partnership with Visit Porto&North. Plus, in 2022, The Route-eProject will have exciting, new routes through Centre of Portugal, Lisbon, Alentejo and the Algarve showcasing the country?s diverse landscapes as well as its historical and cultural landmarks.

The project aims to promote a more conscious tourism offering with culturally enriching experiences and helps to reduce the environmental footprint when travelling.

It is with this commitment that Luis Araujo, president of Turismo de Portugal, affirms that: ?Tourism is a resilient and dynamic sector that knows how to adapt, adjust and respond to market changes. I believe that, from now on, Portugal's main focus will be on territorial cohesion, greater coordination of public and private efforts and, of course, on investing in sustainable projects.?
