Türkiye tourism from the UK nears two million in H1 2024

1.8 million Brits visited Türkiye in the first six months of 2024, marking a 19% increase against the same period in 2023.

Türkiye's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehment Nuri Ersoy, revealed the figures in a press conference in Istanbul.

The UK market seems to have accelerated its growth, with global visitation increasing by just shy of 14% to 26.1 million. In total, these visitors contributed £18.5 billion to the economy, representing an average daily spend of £76.

Museums and historical sites were a notable focus of tourism, with almost 14 million of the overall 26.1 million visitors exploring at least one during their stay, up 12% against 2023.

Ephesus in İzmir, Mevlana Museum in Konya, Hierapolis & Pamukkale in Denizli, Göreme and Zelve/Paşabağları in Cappadocia/Nevşehir ranked among the top-visited attractions.
