p>Travel Trust Association (TTA) and Worldchoice are to make the Travel Foundation?s Make Travel Greener quiz available to agents in a drive to raise awareness of sustainable tourism. The quiz is devised to test people?s knowledge on responsible travel issues and is part of a wider education campaign launched by the Travel Foundation in April 2009.
From November 23, the quiz will be made available to all TTA and Worldchoice agents and their staff through the companies? intranet and at www.maketravelgreener.com/ttaworldchoice.
Simon Hargreaves, managing director of TTA Worldchoice said: ?This is a really innovative way to help people to understand the issues behind sustainable tourism. Today?s customers are more likely to ask their travel agent or tour operator about holidays that have a reduced impact on the environment, and we want our members to feel more confident when discussing these issues.?
Sue Hurdle, chief executive of the Travel Foundation, said: ?Through this quiz we aim to help people working at all levels in the travel industry understand more about what responsible travel means in a fun and informative way. It?s the biggest educational campaign we?ve done and thanks to the support of TTA and Worldchoice many more agents will now have an opportunity to learn about issues important both to their business and to destinations. ?
The quiz is divided into six sections covering facts and figures on climate change, keeping destinations special, the benefits tourism can bring to local communities, helping your business stand out from the crowd, talking to customers about what ?green? travel means and how we can all help. The quiz can be competed in sections, with options to save and revisit it later.
It takes around 30 minutes to complete. The Travel Foundation has tracked the results of everyone who has completed the quiz so far and it shows the average score is 91 per cent.
