Travel Counsellors "strengthens momentum" at first-ever cruise training day

The consortium invited cruise supplier partners and agent members together to share their views on cruise, with a full-day agenda "strengthening the momentum" of Travel Counsellors' cruise sales, according to head of cruise Janet Whittingham.

Travel Counsellors' first-ever dedicated cruise training day hosted an agenda centred around sustainability in sea and river cruising and booking trends, with agents granted opportunities to build relationships and grow business.

Janet noted that, ahead of the partner day, "Over half our over 1,500 strong UK Travel Counsellors community made cruise bookings last year, and we’re delighted to see this movement continue at full speed this year."

Those bookings represent around 15% of Travel Counsellors' leisure sales, with cruise sales in April alone worth £7 million.

Travel Counsellor Julie Tebay added: "My takeouts from the day are numerous, but my number one has to be the chance to catch up face-to-face with some of our key cruise partners, many of whom I make bookings or enquiries with on behalf of my customers almost on a daily basis.

"Matching the right customer to the right cruise is vital for my business, with many customers coming back to me for recommendations."

Cruise partners in attendace included Cunard, Scenic & Emerald, APT, Silversea, Celebrity Cruises and P&O Cruises.
