Toronto route reinstated from Manchester

Air Transat is the latest airline to reinstate long-haul services from Manchester Airport.

In a telling sign for the aviation industry's recovery, Air Transat is set to resume its services from Manchester Airport.

Direct flights from Manchester to Canada will resume for the first time since the pandemic began on October 20, 2021, operating weekly from Terminal One.

Other recently reinstated services include direct flights to Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

TUI has also announced a range of winter sun services from the new-look Terminal Two, with the package provider flying to Cancun, Sharm El Sheik, and Montego Bay from October 17, 2021. Services to Hurghada will resume the day after and Cape Verde and Boa Vista flights are starting on October 24 and 25, 2021, respectively.

Aer Lingus is launching its first transatlantic base in Manchester on October 20, 2021 with a direct route to Barbados, with New York services launching on December 1 and Orlando services on December 11, 2021.

Karen Smart, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: ?We are thrilled to see so many direct long-haul routes returning so quickly - reconnecting our region with the world. The Air Transat service is fantastic news for travellers from the North who want to enjoy city breaks to Toronto, and use it as an entry point to explore other parts of Canada.

"Likewise, it is brilliant to see TUI providing a range of options to customers seeking some winter sun, and Aer Lingus serving transatlantic passengers directly from the UK for the first time, from our airport."
