The Tahiti tourism board will waive cancellation fees and those charged for the change of dates until June 30, 2021. The same rates will be retained until March 2022
The decision comes as the French Polynesian islands are preparing to re-open their borders from July 15, with new policies in place. The destination, renowned for its natural beauty and hospitality, is offering travellers cancellations and change requests for any new reservation, made between May 1 and September 30, 2020, for travel within French Polynesia between July 15 2020 and June 30, 2021, without any extra cancellation charges.
Conditions for the cancellation or change fees to be waived, are as follows: lockdown in the client's country of residence; inability to travel to French Polynesia due to the closure of the borders in transit stops; lockdown in French Polynesia; inability to travel to French Polynesia for a traveller whose Covid-19 test preceding departure was found to be positive; and the inability to a stay after a traveller declared positive while in French Polynesia.
Reimbursement for prepaid trips will be done within 12 months from the date of booking. As an additional gesture of goodwill towards the visitors, suppliers in the Tahiti have signed an agreement pledging that they will not increase any prices until 31 March 2022.
?We know that in these times our travellers face uncertainty when booking a trip. We wish to offer them peace of mind when choosing to travel to our islands,? says Jean-Marc Mocellin, CEO of Tahiti Tourisme.
