Spain, US and Greece top the list for Brits? holiday plans post-lockdown

Coronavirus has affected the short-term travel plans of the nation, but it has not stopped the British holidaymakers from dreaming of destinations they would like to visit, once the lockdown is over

According to a survey by Holiday Extras, 60% of Brits chose some popular tourist spots among the locations they would most like to visit.

From those who participated in the research, 81% said, that they would choose an overseas trip to Spain, the United States, Greece, France or Italy, with perennial hot favourite Spain at the top of the list.

Only 8% of travellers said, they would not consider international travel at the moment; and 2% of those, who usually travelled abroad for holidays, admitted that they would prefer to remain in the UK. This indicates that staycations will be more popular among many people, even after the travel restrictions are lifted.

Market research has revealed that 60% of Brits expect to take a holiday this year; and 15% are willing to get going, as soon as travelling is declared safe.

The research survey comes as a time, when the European Union leaders have started discussing the state of tourism across Europe post-Coronavirus, and Greece's tourism minister, Harry Theoharis has proposed a series of rules and regulations, applicable for travelling post lockdown.

Ant Clarke Cowell at Holiday Extras said: ?It is clear that holidaymakers are keen to go back to travelling, as soon as it is safe. There has already been a number of sensible precautionary measures concerning package holidays, (including flights, resort accommodations and airport transits), suggested by airline authorities as well as governments; in the present state of affairs, one can expect the airport services to resume fairly quickly.?

?Countries where tourism plays a big part in the economy, such as Greece (20%) and Spain (15%), there will be huge incentives to work together and find solutions that help people travel back to their favourite destinations. Until that happens, looking forward with hope, and planning our future trips will keep everyone motivated.?
