Tourism Solomons has revealed figures showing over 26,000 visitors travelled through Honiara International Airport in 2023, just short of 2019s 29,000 annual visitors.
The destination board's acting CEO, Dagnal Dereveke, said last year was characterised by concerted efforts across the tourism industry in pursuit of 2019's figures, with the numbers largely attributed to both those efforts and the 2023 Pacific Games, held in Horiana in November of last year.
Dagnal explained: "Going forward our 2024 marketing strategy revolves around continuing to place major efforts around our short-haul markets where we have direct access to grow the numbers with planned joint marketing activities planned for this year 2024 with Solomon Airlines and key industry partners."
