The Slovenian Tourist Board has appointed Mladen Ljubisic as their new head of tourism UK and Ireland. A new strategy is currently being implemented, which will have a stronger focus on the travel trade, with tour operator and agent management playing a prominent role.
The campaign will also aim to further build upon Slovenia?s reputation as one of Europe?s most tourist-friendly, green and sustainable destinations, putting responsible tourism at the heart of the marketing agenda.
Recent government statistics show that UK visitors to the country have increased by 43% year on year between 2014 and 2016.
In an official statement Ljubisic commented: ?The Slovenian Tourist Board has done an amazing job in promoting Slovenia to the UK general public and the media, sharing the strong message of the country as an environmentally friendly and green destination. With ten years of experience in different aspects of the travel trade, as well as a strong business background, I believe we are on the right path to becoming one of the most recognised eco-friendly destinations and will continue to attract many like-minded people in the UK and Ireland.?
Currently the tourism board is inviting operators to the Slovenian Incoming Workshop taking place over June 9 -11 at Terme ?ate?, one of Slovenia's largest natural health resorts. The workshop is the largest tourism industry B2B event in Slovenia and offers the opportunity for meetings with well-known and new Slovenian tourism providers from all sectors.
