Six Senses announces its second property in Turkey

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has announced the opening of Six Senses Kocata? Mansions, Istanbul.

The latest hotel to join the brand's portfolio will soft launch in November with a fully completed offering by spring 2020 which will include three restaurants and a spa all with views of the Bosphorous River. This will be the group?s second property in Turkey, joining Six Senses Kaplankaya which opened last year.

Located in the Sariyer district of Istanbul?s European side, the 45-room and suite hotel has seen the transformation of two former 19th-century mansions: Kocatas Mansions and the next-door Sait Pasa Mansion. A devastating fire left them uninhabited for the last 20 years. They have been now restored to their original grandeur. The interior design throughout blends traditional local influences with contemporary Six Senses signature touches.

Located at a short distance from the Bosphorous River, guests will enjoy great views of the river as it begins its last curve towards the Black Sea. This strait has been sailed since the Roman era and today marks one of the world?s most strategic waterways, separating Europe and Asia.

There will be three restaurants at the new property: Toro Latin Gastro Bar, which has been designed by restauranteur Richard Sandoval and will serve Pan-Latin and Asian cuisines. Kahve will be an all-day dining caf? style restaurant located in a bohemian style gilded hall and will serve snacks and pastries. A third restaurant will also open in spring 2020. A fully equipped gym and spa will launch in spring 2020.

Omar Alfardan, president and CEO of Alfardan Group, said: ?The partnership between Alfardan Group and Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas proves to be timely and strategic, as Turkey continues to emerge as a highly popular destination in the region. Six Senses Kocata? Mansions is a tribute to history and culture, and it represents our unique take on hospitality and urban hotel living which will be clearly reflected in its incredible designs and state-of-the-art facilities.?

Neil Jacobs, CEO of the hotel group, added: ?We are very happy to partner with the Alfardan Group for this historic project,? said Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs. ?Ideally situated in the city?s prosperous northernmost district with its vibrant outdoor caf?s and garden areas, this remains truly the best spot for a Six Senses hotel in Istanbul. It will appeal to local residents in search of an urban wellness fix and great dining experiences, and also to international travellers who wish to explore the city.?

Istanbul New Airport is a 40-minute drive by a private vehicle and the city center is a short boat ride away. A private boat which will moor in front of the hotel, will be available to guests to enjoy bespoke tours and excursions.
