Safety first for CATA after the launch of a new tourism campaign

The Central America Tourism Agency has announced its latest campaign ‘Central America, Safe for Sure’ emphasising safety, diversity and culture within the region

‘When you think of destinations that offer safety and authenticity, think of Central America and the Dominican Republic’ is the key message through the innovative campaign, positioning the destination as a reliable and attractive option for travellers.

The heart of the campaign showcases the reasons why 24 million visitors explored the regions of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic last year. The narrative places emphasis on the landscapes, culinary experiences, ancient cultures, sustainable practices, biodiversity and more that can be found within the destination.

Boris Iraheta, secretary general of CATA, said, “We invite the world to discover a region that offers safety, diversity and unique experiences that leave lasting memories.”

Thus far in 2024, over two million European visitors have travelled to Central America and the Dominican Republic, representing approximately 12-14% of the region’s total visitation. Continued growth is expected for 2025, driven by campaigns such as this one and reinforced partnerships with key players in the industry.
