The Rockies to Red Rocks route will be a two-day train trip between Denver, Colorado, and Moab, with an overnight stay at Glenwood Springs.
The journey will also be offered as an eastbound journey from Moab to Denver.
The new route will be launched with a ten-week preview season of 40 departures from August 15 to October 23, 2021. The company will work with hotels and tour operators to curate custom holiday packages to feature tours, activities and stays across Denver, so guests can make the most of the Centennial State.
Rocky Mountaineer's luxury trains offer multi-day, daytime journeys featuring local mountainous scenery, regional cuisine and attentive service in spacious, glass-domed train coaches.
After departing from Denver, the route crosses the Continental Divide, treated to views of Byers Canyon, Gore Canyon and the Colorado River before an overnight stay at the mountain town of Glenwood Springs- a town known for its hospitality and natural hot springs. The next day takes guests south-west across the Rocky Mountains and colourful archways and rock formations as they head across the border to Utah; they are treated to breakfast as they pass Roan Cliffs and Mount Lincoln, before reaching the red rock formations of Ruby Canyon and Mount Peale. The train then arrives at Moab for the end of the journey.
The trip can be customised for clients, with optional extended stays in Denver before or after the journey and visits to the Rocky Mountain National Park or four of the state's other National Parks. Colorado also hosts the Western Slope and former gold-rush mining towns, such as Durango and the Mesa Verde National Park.
Andrea Blankenship, director of International Tourism at the Colorado Tourism Office, said: ?We are thrilled to welcome this new and exciting experience to Colorado. We cannot wait to welcome international visitors back and for them to now be able to build a Rocky Mountaineer rail adventure into their wider holiday to Colorado. From the gateway city of Denver to the spectacular mountain vistas and towns along the way, this journey is unique and we are so excited for visitors to experience it in 2021.?
The two-day rail journeys, including a one-night accommodation in Glenwood Springs, starts at $1,250.
