Riviera Travel unveils 2022 Japanese garden tours

Three 13-day options are available across Tokyo, Hakone, Hiroshima, Okayama and Kyoto.

Looking ahead to a brighter 2022 in terms of Japanese leisure travel, Riviera Travel has unveiled three new 13-day 'Gardens of Japan' tours, which will visit 10 traditional gardens across Japanese cities.

Guests will tick off a number of Japan's most popular cities including Tokyo, Hakone, Hiroshima, Okayama, and Kyoto.

In Tokyo, the 60-acre Hama-riky? Gardens will be ready to explore; the designated 'Special National Historical Site' was formerly a state residence. Travelling west to the Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetland, visitors will explore over 1,700 varieties of native Japanese plants. Even further west in Okayama, the 18th-century K?raku-en Garden, recognised as one of the 'Three Great Gardens of Japan' is also included on the tour. Venturing north to Kyoto, guests will learn why the Murin-an Garden earned the title 'National Place of Scenic Beauty'.

Each tour is available for up to 44 guests, with departures currently planned for March 24, May 18 and November 2, allowing for seasonal visits.

Alongside the garden visits, the tour offers guided visits to Tokyo and Kyoto, a Mount Fuji sightseeing excursion, the chance to stay in a 'ryokan' and sleep on a traditional futon, a stay at the mountain spa resort of Hakone, a visit to Hiroshima's Peace Park and a trip on a high-speed bullet train.

Prices start from ?4,299 per person, with direct flights from Heathrow, four-star accommodation and breakfast and three meals included.

Katja Hildebrandt from Riviera Travel said: ?Japan is a truly unique destination and similarly, its gardens are wonderfully distinctive.
