Qantas reopens route to Great Barrier Reef gateway

Hamilton Island, the gateway to Australia?s Great Barrier Reef, is set to welcome the return of a direct Qantas service from Sydney.

Starting from July 2, the revived route, will fly three times a week during peak season.

Phillipa Harrison, Hamilton Island?s general manager - sales, said: ?We are thrilled Qantas will once again be servicing Hamilton Island from Sydney. The Island has a strong Sydney guest base and we?re pleased these guests will now have additional flight options and increased accessibility to the beauty and attractions of Hamilton Island.

?The timing of this news has been impeccable, as the Island?s events calendar is soon to ramp up with Audi Hamilton Island Race Week in August, the Australian Ballet pas de deux in paradise in October and The Great Barrier Feast in November.
