Adding more islands and venues on existing popular wedding spots in Greece throughout last year, Planet Weddings has seen its bookings for 2018 hit a record high.
Mathilde Robert, the company?s managing director, said: ?Greece has surpassed all of our expectations, the attraction for couples has always been there but 2018 is a bumper year despite the blow last October of a ban on weddings in Lindos by Bishop Kyrillos of Rhodes, the island?s top prelate. Despite the ban other fabulous venues in Rhodes such as Kalithea Springs are sold out for many popular dates in May, June, July and September, and the same can be said of all our top sellers including Santorini, Crete and Zante. Couples are venturing to lesser-known islands and as we?ve introduced more each year in our Planet Holidays programme, we expect this trend to continue well into 2020.?
Contributing factors driving this increase have been attributed to the many options available to couples, with simple beach weddings available for under ?2,000 to elegant five-star hotel weddings with all the trimmings for ?6,000 plus. The company has also noted that party sizes have increased in the last decade with the average size growing from 20 plus to 45 plus. Furthermore, additional regional flights both, scheduled and charter, have also has a positive effect in driving wedding sales to Greece.
The operator is able to offer agents commission on wedding extras such as the photography, videos, flowers, cake and entertainment. It is also able to confirm dates and the time of the wedding first and at the time of booking, so that agents and their client couples can continue to plan the special day with peace of mind.
