Palma expands luxury proposition with boutique properties

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, Mallorca?s capital city, Palma, continues to attract significant hotel investment with the conversion of four historic buildings in Palma?s Old Town into luxury boutique properties which will collectively accommodate a total of 200 people.

In early 2021, Palma will welcome the launch of Nivia Hotel Boutique located on the elegant Passeig de Born, part of an expansion scheme by Garden Hotels Group. This boutique property situated in one of Palma?s most iconic areas will boast 24 rooms and a rooftop overlooking Palma?s dramatic Gothic cathedral.  During the 1950?s, the building was the headquarters of Spain?s national airline, Iberia, and the interiors will transport visitors to this era with a mid-century style.

Pedro Homar, managing director of Palma Tourist Board, predicts that 2021 will see more high-spend visitors to the city, explaining: ?We welcome all kinds of travellers to Palma and we can certainly cater to suit a range of budgets, but booking data certainly indicates an appetite for luxury travel.?

Over the last decade, Palma has been repositioned as a more long-term and sustainable destination, while having one of the highest percentages of four- and five-star properties in Spain, at 90%.
