FCO encourages people to be better prepared by researching the local laws and customs of their holiday destination before travel.

Results of the Great British Tourism Survey (GBTS) released by VisitEngland has revealed 3.8 million domestic holiday trips were taken in England in April 2014, a 10% increase on the same period last year, with tourism spend up 5% for the month.

- The UK continues to be Spain?s strongest inbound tourism market accounting for 23.3% of all international visits to Spain between January and June 2014 (+5.8%) with over 6.5 million visitors

- UK visitor expenditure experienced a 10.2% rise between January and June 2014, totalling ?5.2 billion and accounting for 19.8% of the total tourism spend
