Diverting funds previously allocated for promotional items at agent conferences, the cruise line has donated £10,000 to its charity partner, the Teenage Cancer Trust
Sales director Ruth Venn noted that, while agent conferences remain "fundamental in [the cruise line's] travel agent training and engagement plans, and we welcome the opportunity to speak with hundreds of agents over the coming months," the sales team is on a mission to "reduc[e] the distribution of branded merchandise, and we are confident agents will support us in this decision."
On board, the cruise line has committed to reducing single-use plastics by 50% and hosts a number of fundraising efforts including Trek the Deck and crew-led challenges throughout the year.
Ruth continued, "We are so proud to be coming into our 10th year of supporting the incredible work undertaken by Teenage Cancer Trust so there couldn’t be a better time for us to redirect funds.
"The best takeaways from travel agent conference season are the ideas shared and the relationships built, and we encourage agents to talk to us more now than ever before."
Extra chances to win Shine rewards points throughout conference season are on offer, with more details available via the sales team or Shine rewards platform.
The cruise line hopes to raise £1 million for the cancer charity by the end of 2024.
