Omega Breaks reports strong demand for Northern Lights flight experiences

October and November 2021 departures are currently up 176% compared to 2019, with certain dates close to selling out.

Omega Breaks, part of The JG Travel Group, has reported strong demand for its Northern Lights flying experiences this winter, with an increase of 176% compared to 2019 sales.

Northern Lights flight experiences takes customers on a journey into the sky in search of the Aurora Borealis, with departures from 12 regional airports across the UK.

The breaks are available on selected dates in October and November 2021 and February and March 2022, with each trip accompanied by a guest astronomy from BBC's The Sky at Night, Pete Lawrence. Prices start from ?229 per person.

Claire Dutton, trade sales manager at Omega Breaks, comments: ?These breaks are great for customers who dream of seeing the Northern Lights, but perhaps don?t have the budget for or desire to take an overseas trip right now. Flying high above the clouds, away from any light pollution, helps ensure maximum opportunities to view the stars, constellations and hopefully the Aurora Borealis.?

?We are working hard to build the Omega Breaks brand within the trade and I?d urge agents to promote these amazing experiences to their customers base, who may not know it is possible to spend an evening doing something like this.?

Each experience begins with exclusive pre-flight talks from the guest astronomer, offering the chance to learn about the Northern Lights, as well as what is expected from the evening's aurora forecast.

Once guests board and flights depart, the cabin is made as dark as possible to maximise visibility of the night sky. The three hour flight is accompanied by expert commentary from the astronomy team.

Departures are available from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, East Midlands, London Gatwick, Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff, London Stansted and Birmingham.

One lucky agent will have the chance to win a Northern Lights Flight for two this winter to experience it for themselves. Details of the competition will be announced on the operator's agent-exclusive Facebook group (Just Go, National and Omega agents) early next week.
