Omega Breaks boosts eclipse options with new 16-day Arctic sailing

For the first time the operator has partnered with Ambassador Cruise Lines to offer the new 16-day Arctic voyage to witness the once-in-a-lifetime eclipse event

Aboard Ambition, guests will sail to the viewing position off the south coast of Greenland on the day of the eclipse (August 12th, 2026) to witness history. They will be joined by ‘Sky at Night’ presenter and astronomer Pete Lawrence who will offer advice and information during the voyage.

Customers who book onto the voyage through Omega Breaks will enjoy a selection of exclusive treats, including a cocktail party ahead of the eclipse and a special dinner with Pete and his team.

The ship will set sail from Dundee for Runavik before heading to Greenland for the eclipse. Afterwards, guests will head to Iceland and spend several days visiting Reykjavik, Grundarfjordur and Seydisfjordur before sailing back to Dundee via Lerwick in the Shetland Islands.

The 16-day option will depart on August 7th, 2026, with prices leading in from £3,999 per person, including return flights to Glasgow from a host of regional UK airports, an overnight stay in Glasgow at the start and end of the cruise, and return coach transfers to Dundee. The itinerary also includes all meals aboard Ambition, as well as the Ambassador Expedition drinks package worth over £500 per person.

Claire Dutton, trade sales manager at Omega Breaks, said, “This is a really exciting new product and the first time we’ve offered an eclipse viewing from the deck of a cruise ship. We are thrilled to be partnering with Ambassador Cruise Line who is a great fit with our customer demographic.

“We have some great early bird pricing and lots is included within our packages so now is the time for agents to get marketing this unique cruise which combines the spectacular event with the chance to see other natural wonders in that part of the planet.”
