The operator has released two new tours to witness the ‘longest eclipse of the century’ in Egypt for 2027.
The eclipse will take place on August 2nd, 2027 in Luxor, with its time at centre line expected to last a shocking six minutes and 24 seconds. Guests who embark on this once-in-a-lifetime journey will be accompanied by BBC’s Sky at Night TV presenter and astronomer Pete Lawrence.
Pete will share his knowledge of what to expect from the eclipse, as well as how best to take a photographer, before leading travellers up to the viewing point new Luxor Temple on the west bank of the Nile.
Claire Dutton, trade sales manager at Omega Breaks, says how eclipse tourism has seen a “real boost this year” after the sightings in Texas in April, and the operator “knows from experience in selling eclipse breaks that customers book several years in advance as they know it is such a unique phenomenon and they don’t want to miss out.”
“I’d urge agents to begin marketing this as widely as possible as they might be surprised by the variety of customers it appears to.”
Two tours are now on the sale: the eight-day itinerary to Luxor only is priced from £3,499 per person, including return flights to London, a seven-night stay at the Iberotel Luxor hotel and guided tours; and the 11-day option combining Luxor and Cairo from £4,499 per person. Departures for the trips are from July 29th and July 26th, 2027 respectively.
