Newmarket Holidays goes pound-for-pound with sterling-stretching destinations

Agents are urged to spotlight destinations where the pound goes furthest, revealing the Sterling Superstar holiday hotspots.

Newmarket Holidays' new campaign helps agents showcase the best-value destinations to their customers, comprised of countries where the sterling has skyrocketed over the last year.

Egypt tops the list of 'Sterling Superstars', with the value of the British pound up by 63% on the Egyptian pound.

On the south end of the continent, the value of the pound has gained 24% on the rand, with the pound up 16% on the Kenyan shilling, enabling British safari-seekers a better spending power on holiday.

Scandinavia has also become more affordable with a sterling soar of over 17% against the Norwegian krone and an 8% increase against the Icelandic krona.

India and Canada are also rising in value, with a 5% increase in the sterling's worth.

Richard Forde, head of Trade Sales said: "We want to help agents capitalise on consumers seeking great value for money, in terms of the price they pay but also knowing their money will be well spent whilst they are away.

"There are some brilliant destinations where the value of sterling has shot up over the past 12 months, so travellers can spend less to get more."

Itineraries on offer to make the most of the sterling surge across the world include the eight-day 'Beautiful Fjords of Western Norway' itinerary from £1,052 per person and the 'On Safari in South Africa' option from £2,268 per person.
