momondo.co.uk analysed its UK flight searches made over the last four months, for travel during this upcoming Christmas and New Year period.
The metasearch site looked at planned flight departures from all UK airports between December 18 and January 3, and also studied where in the world is most-popular for short breaks of seven days and under, and for long breaks, of more than seven days.
America?s New York reclaimed first place as the most popular destination for a winter break for Brits, for both long and short breaks, having been beaten to the top spot last year by Bangkok.
Next most-popular destination for Brits was Dubai, for both long and short breaks, with its guaranteed sunshine, luxurious hotels and relatively short mid-haul flight time. And Lisbon, Portugal?s capital and largest city was third most-searched, for long and short breaks.
Other destinations, in order of popularity for short-break bookings included Amsterdam, Paris, Reykjavik, Berlin, Tenerife, Porto and Barcelona.
