The new system packages hotel and rail options together as part of the main booking process and the new search capability is flexible to use: agents select the hotel plus rail option, select a departure date, departure station and approximate departure and return train times. The company will then recommend packages showing the lowest fare rail options and its recommended hotels based on value for money or special offers.

The system then provides a grid that details the departure times and return times based on the customer's journey choice and the best value fares. Prices offered are per person and include the return rail fare and hotel stay and upgrades to First Class can be done at this point and confirmed seat reservations are made at no extra cost.

The operator's national sales manager, Graham Balmforth, said: ?This makes things so much clearer and convenient for agents. Previously rail tickets were added as an add-on at the end of a booking but now they are an integral part of the process. Agents can find the cheapest routes for customers, show them clearly how prices change depending on when they travel during the day and then confirm their seats and times so everything is booked and sorted."
All major UK rail operators are featured with fares both into London and around the UK, with prices from ?7 per person, one-way from Birmingham to London.
