The journey is the latest in the development of this stretch of railway line which was completely reinstated last year. Pulled by steam and diesel locomotives, the train has capacity for 54 passengers and each of the four coaches is furnished in a distinct style, with a lounge, coffee bar and open terrace.?
The ten-night itinerary leads in at ?2,755 per person, including four nights in Quito; two nights in the Otavalo region, including a journey through the northern highlands on the Tren de Libertad; four days/three nights on the Tren Crucero; a night in Guayaquil; and flights, transfers, and accommodation with breakfast and on full-board basis during the train journey from Quito to Guayaquil. Departures are available throughout July and August, until September 1.
