The Moroccan National Tourist Office has announced additional flight routes from the UK as Morocco becomes the latest hotspot for British travellers.
The additional flights include routes from Glasgow to Agadir with easyJet and London to Essaouira and Ouarzazate with Ryan Air, following a strong tourism recovery after the pandemic. Pre-pandemic tourism figures saw a recovery rate of 28% for Q1 2023, with arrivals from the UK in January reaching 43,377, compared to the 35,909 in 2019.
UK tourism to Morocco has been on the rise in recent years, with the country attracting a range of visitors seeking to experience the vibrant culture, rich history and photographic landscapes. With easy accessibility from the UK, the most popular destinations for overnight stays this year include Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez, Rabat, Essaouira and Ouarzazate.
Farouk Lazhar, trade manager for the Moroccan National Tourist Office, commented: “We are committed to promoting the country, as a safe and attractive destination for UK tourists, and the addition of new flights will undoubtedly further increase visitor numbers in the coming months.”
