Midcounties Co-operative seals Central England Co-Operative deal

Co-operative Travel, the travel retail division of Midcounties Co-operative, has finalised a transfer agreement with Central England Co-operative. 

With the two remaining branches opening in forthcoming weeks, 14 of the 16 former Central England Co-operative branches to join the Midcounties? portfolio have reopened to the public.

The 14 branches that have transferred to Midcounties Co-operative and are now open are located in Allenton (Derbyshire), Atherstone (Warwickshire), Lowestoft (Suffolk), Castle Donington, Ibstock and Whetstone (Leicestershire), Diss, Kings Lynn and Thetford (Norfolk), Erdington (West Midlands), Market Deeping (Lincolnshire), Oakham (Rutland), March and Peterborough (Cambridgeshire).

The branch in Beccles, Suffolk, is moving into new premises and will reopen in the autumn while the branch in Glenfield, Leicestershire, will open in two weeks? time.  

Natalie Turner, head of branches for Co-operative Travel, said: ?I am delighted that Midcounties? Co-operative Travel now has a presence in several new counties across the UK. The new branches will complement our existing trading areas while providing further growth for our brand. 78 former Central England Co-operative colleagues have joined Co-operative Travel, bringing our portfolio of Co-operative Travel shops to over 70."
