Jetstar increases capacity to the Cook Islands following tourism demand

The airline has increased its year-round non-stop service from Sydney to Raratonga before the inaugural flight takes off.

In response to impressive demand before the service takes to the skies, Jetstar has increased the schedule twice-weekly service from Sydney to Raratonga to three flights a week.

The first non-stop flight commences on June 29, 2023, with one-way fares starting from AU$369 (approximately £211) for select dates between June 29 and October 31, 2023. The service departs Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 9:30pm before arriving in Raratonga at 7am the same day. Return flights leave Rarotonga at 9am arriving in Sydney at 12:30pm on the following day.

Three services a week will run between July 4 and October 24, 2023 and throughout December 2023 and January 2024.

Cook Islands Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Mark Brown, welcomed the news, explaining: “Our continuing journey on the path to economic recovery will be assisted by this additional flight from Australia during peak seasons.

"My government is committed to doing what we can to help fast-track our economy back to pre-Covid levels and it’s great to see Jetstar assisting in this space by allowing more Aussies, and Cook Islanders living in Australia, the ability to visit with their direct flight from Sydney.’’
