The multi-million pound investment enables the airline to stock, manage, and distribute millions of in-flight retail products in-house.
Last summer saw the airline experienced supplier distribution; the first-of-its-kind facility sees it combat potential issues in the future and adopt the mantle of the first UK airline to bring in-flight retail operations in-house.
Throughout the year, 25 million items are expected to flow through the centre onto the airline's growing fleet.
300 new jobs have been created as a result of the multi-million pound investment, from shift and warehouse operations to inventory control. John Davis has been promoted to the new position of director of retail, reporting to commercial & revenue director Adam Mulroy.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays' CEO, Steve Heapy, said: "Industry-leading customer service is a critical driver of our continued success, so we are absolutely delighted to be applying that to our in-flight retail operation. The opening of this multi-million pound Retail Operations Centre is a first for UK aviation and we know that this pioneering step will provide the very best service for our customers."
