The acquisition of the 15-room, four-star boutique Daintree Ecolodge in Tropical North Queensland marks a new chapter in the operators vertical expansion.
Intrepid Travel's acquisition of the boutique rainforest retreat sees them continue their pursuit of accommodation expansion and investment beyond the multi-day tour model.
The 15-room, four-star Daintree Ecolodge hosts an on-site restaurant and bar, day spa, natural waterfall and walking track.
First built in 1992, it offers three room styles: Lagoon, Canopy and Rainforest, with guided rainforest walks by the local Kuku Yalanji people on offer alongside a host of nearby activities and excursions.
"As we continue to diversify our offering, this new acquisition will play a key role in our evolution towards an iconic lifestyle brand. A move into the lodge space is a long-held aspiration for Intrepid and will connect our brand to an entirely new audience while seamlessly integrating with our core tour product," explained James Thornton, CEO at Intrepid Travel.
The operator offers a choice of multi-day explorations of the Daintree area, including the five-day 'Queensland Daintree Explorer' option and 18-day 'East Coast Encompassed' itinerary among others.
"This acquisition marks the next chapter in the Intrepid story, as we expand into the accommodation sector. We are excited to grow this vertical, bringing our 34 years of global experience as a leading travel provider to new customers and sharing our style of responsible travel with more people,” Thornton concluded.
