With the inclusion of Portugal to the UK?s travel corridor, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has reopened its properties in Portugal, Iberostar Selection Lisboa and Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve ? both recognised by Turismo de Portugal as Estabelecimento Clean & Safe.
Iberostar has implemented more than 300 safety and health measures strategically recommended and developed by the hotel chain?s Medical Advisory Board made up of health experts for the tourism industry.
Similarly, the company has introduced Iberostar Extra Care Insurance, a free of charge medical insurance exclusively for bookings done via Iberostar.com and the company?s call centre, in order to give your guests peace of mind. The medical insurance takes effect from the moment guests check-in until they check out and covers: Medical and surgical assistance if required; extension of stay at the Iberostar hotel; medical transportation service for sick or injured individuals; emergency transportation to the hospital; unexpected health-related travels back home; medical dental costs; expenses incurred by the accompanying individual during the stay in the event of hospitalisation, COVID-19 health-related symptoms and more.
These programmes are a part of Iberostar?s How We Care initiative and in line with the Group's responsible tourism model and circular economy policies to ensure the highest levels of guest and employee safety without reducing quality standards. How we Care initiative is based on four pillars: safe environment, hygiene standards, innovative experience and social spaces.
The Luz Restaurant at Iberostar Selection Lisboa has recently received the MSC/ASC custody certification, which ensures sustainable seafood. The certification is aligned with Iberostar?s efforts to promote the consumption of responsible seafood as part of its larger Wave of Change movement. The company is the first hotel chain in the country to have a restaurant with such certification.
