Hurtigruten launches new 2021 expedition from Dover

Hurtigruten, the expedition cruise brand, has added a new adventurous British Isles itinerary to its Dover departures programme, with sailings departing on April 27, July 4 and August 1, 2021, onboard the refurbished MS Maud.

Following the popularity of the current British Isles sailing offering, this sailing will offer your guests the opportunity to spend more time exploring some of the most beautiful ports and unique islands. The round-trip from Dover will see your guests call in at ports up and down the British coastline, including Fort William, Isles of Scilly, Rathlin Island, and the Isle of Iona as well as embarking on a series of excursions during the voyage.

With a passenger capacity of around 500, the MS Maud, which completes renovation work in early 2021, offers a relaxed and informal environment and is the perfect size for reaching remote destinations and natural wonders that ?big white ships? can?t reach. Health and safety protocols, following guidance from the Norwegian Government and local authorities, will be in place to ensure passenger and crew safety a key priority for the expedition brand.

Anthony Daniels, UK general manager for Hurtigruten, said: ?We?re thrilled to be adding another adventurous itinerary to our existing British Isles departures from Dover in 2021. The changes reflect the significant positive demand we?re experiencing for destinations closer to home. Our newly refurbished MS Maud will take guests along the striking British coastline to be closer to nature and wildlife, as well charming small towns beaming with personality. With staycations on the rise, this is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to explore expedition cruising ? whilst being close to home.?

With three new destinations on this British Isles itinerary, there is no shortage of scenery for your guests to explore and enjoy. The stop at Fort William ? dominated by the view of the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis ? offers plenty of attractions from the Old Fort to nearby town Glenfinnan. It is best known for the stunning railway viaduct which featured in a Harry Potter movie. Those wanting to get up close with nature can travel to Glen Nevis and soak in the beautiful walking route through Nevis George and Steall Falls.

Portland on the other hand is bursting with intrigue and history. Located at the centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, there are quiet coves and disused quarries, as well as being a haven for wildlife. Almost 300 species of bird, 720 species of moth and over 30 species of butterfly are situated at Chesil Beach. Bird watching enthusiasts have the chance to glance at rare species, too.

Three new restaurants will be introduced: Aune, the main restaurant; Fredheim, for casual international dining; and, Lindstrom, an exclusive fine dining restaurant.
