p>Hurtigruten has launched a summer short break programme, tying in with the Midnight Sun and new flights from Gatwick to Tromso, launched by Norwegian.

The operator has created a selection of five- and six-day flight-inclusive breaks that offer the opportunity to experience a range of new summer excursions, including a Midnight Sun kayaking trip and evening hiking. Departures are available on selected dates from April 3 to September 14, with prices leading in at ?999 per person.

The operator's managing director Kathryn Beadle said: ?Our winter short breaks have been phenomenally popular and it's great news that agents can now sell these during the summer months also. The new twice-weekly flights to Tromso with Norwegian opens up exciting opportunities for us to create new shorter voyages. For ease in selling, we have packaged our voyages with flights as we know this is what agents like.?

A range of new excursions have also been introduced for add-on selling. These include sea kayaking from ?161 per person, midnight sun kayaking from ?187, mountain hiking from ?122 and a guided trip to the Polar Museum from ?110.?

As an example of prices, a six-day Into the Arctic Summer option, which travels from Bergen to Tromso, costs ?1,075 per person, and is available on 19 selected dates between April 5 and September 6. Highlights include Alesund, Geirangerfjord, Trondheim and sailing through the Lofoten Islands, and the price includes flights from Gatwick, transfers, four nights' half-board accommodation on the ship and one night?s breakfast stay at a hotel in Tromso.?
