Hotel Indigo Verona reopens after renovation

Hotel Indigo Verona - Grand Hotel Des Arts, which has been closed since February for renovations, reopened this week.

The revamped hotel is largely inspired by the rich culture and architecture of Italy, with influences from Shakespearean plays which can be found inculcated in small details of its 62 rooms. Whether it is the headboards of bed resembling fresco paintings or the back panelling of the lobby, which resembles the garden straight out of Shakespeare?s Romeo and Juliet, or the use of native red marble (known as Marmo rosso di Verona), in the public areas to create a feeling of grand Italian residences.

The reception area combines two elements that characterise the city, the Arena and Shakespearean theatre. Its architecture draws inspiration from the theatrical facades, including Juliet's iconic terrace. Verona's famous Arena can accommodate up to 22,000 spectators and is still used for hosting large-scale opera performances. The meeting rooms are called Montechhi, and Capuleti, after the rival families in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The event spaces can be used for conferences and small functions too.

There is an onsite bar called Arya Bar & Mixology, which has a selection of locally inspired cocktails and nibbles.
