The fleet-wide ‘Dutch Day’ experience pays homage to the cruise line’s 150+ year heritage with Dutch delicacies and Stroopwafel staples.
Always promising an authentic experience for all, Holland America has launched its ‘Dutch Days’ experience across its entire fleet, allowing guests to immerse in its rich history and lineage.
The cruise line will offer a Dutch-themed dinner once per cruise, including traditional delicacies including Dutch pea soup, hodge-podge klapstuk and a bosche bol to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Holland America has also partnered with family-owned bakery Daelmans Stroopwafels which dates back to 1904 to offer guests delectable Stroopwafel products in the dining room and in the more casual Lido Market.
On all 11 vessels, the Crow’s Nest Café will offer daily poffertjes, a traditional Dutch treat resembling a pancake, while in the bars, guests can out a unique Stroopwafel liqueur on sailings through Europe.
Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage and rooms division at Holland America, highlight how important it is for the cruise line to remain “deeply connected” to its cultural roots, and states that “Dutch Day is the perfect way to honour our history through experiences that celebrate the culinary culture of our country.”
