To mark this year's Make Holidays Greener Week organised by the Travel Foundation (July 2-9), Holiday Extras is appealing to travel agents to share their top tips for sustainable overseas travel.

The ten best green travel tips will be published on the Holiday Extras? agent website and the winner receive a Freeloader Globetrotter Kit, an advanced portable solar charging system that can recharge any handheld device using the power of the sun.

Agents can send in their tips by responding to an email they will receive from Holiday Extras and via the banner that will appear on the Holiday Extras agent homepage.

Andrea Clayton, head of partnerships and insurance at Holiday Extras, said: "I'm really looking forward to reading tips for greener holidays from those in the know, the UK's travel agents. Most people would like to make their holidays more sustainable, and it doesn't take huge changes to do this. I?m sure our partners have some unique and inspired suggestions which can also be shared with customers."

Sue Hurdle, chief executive of The Travel Foundation, said: ?Make Holidays Greener Week is all about the simple things that we can all do when we?re on holiday to make a difference to our chosen destination. We?re delighted to have the support of Holiday Extras for the campaign to help us get this message out to holidaymakers in addition to their ongoing support for our work. Small changes, such as buying locally-produced souvenirs or conserving water, can make a significant difference to local people and the environment, helping to keep holidays special into the future.?

Since April this year, every customer making a direct booking with Holiday Extras is invited to donate 50p to the Travel Foundation. Based on current projections, Holiday Extras customers could be donating a million pounds over the next five years.
