Havila Voyages announces May start date for second ship

Havila Castor will take to the seas from Bergen on May 10, 2022.

Norwegian cruising operator Havila Voyages has confirmed the first sailing date for its second ship, Havila Castor.

The eco-friendly sailing option will sail from Bergen on May 10, 2022 for its inaugural voyage - a delay from the ship's initially planned debut on April 7, 2022.

Due to the eco-friendly electric motor on board, sea trials had to be delayed. The cruise line's CEO, Bent Martini, explained: ?I apologise to those passengers who have been looking forward to exploring the Norwegian coast on Havila Castor. We very much look forward to welcoming them on board in future and are contacting them to discuss an alternative voyage.?

Both of the cruise line's ships, Capella and Castor, are almost fully booked for the summer 2022 season.

The delay will likely impact the launch of Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux.

Martini added: ?We assume that Havila Polaris will start operating in the third quarter and Havila Pollux in the fourth quarter of this year. At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact dates but are doing everything we can to ensure we can put these ships into operation as quickly as possible, for the benefit of all who will travel and work on board.?
