Featuring a number of atmospheric and lesser-known markets in Europe, each trip is rail-themed and designed to allow as much free time as possible.

 

As examples, a Three Countries Christmas Markets option leads in at ?540 per person and takes in three markets this December - Li?ge in Belgium, Cologne market and Valkenburg, where guests can enjoy a festive drink in a Roman cave. The four-night tour departs on December 9 and includes Eurostar from London, all rail travel and bed-and-breakfast hotel accommodation. A seven-night tour that takes in the Christmas market in Bamberg costs from ?985 per person. Visits to a steam locomotive works in nearby Meiningen and a railway museum in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg are also included, as are the numerous markets of Cologne. The tour departs on December 1 and includes Eurostar from London, all rail travel and bed-and-breakfast hotel accommodation. Meanwhile, a Viennese Christmas break spends Christmas Day on the Semmering Pass, the oldest mountain railway in Europe.

Included in the tour, which departs on December 22, is a ?Mozart dinner? at the Piaristen Keller in Vienna, a 300-year-old converted monastery, a private tour of St Stephen?s Cathedral, Hofburg Palace, the Ringstrasse and Sch?nbrunn Palace. The six-night tour costs ?1,550 per person based on two sharing and includes Eurostar from London, all rail travel, some meals and bed-and-breakfast hotel accommodation. A gala meal on Christmas Eve and an operetta on Boxing Day are also included.
