Full steam ahead as Newmarket Holidays reports bumper European bookings

Scotland, Croatia and Italy have driven growth in the European group tour sector, with the operator unveiling a campaign to help agents make the most of rising demand.

Newmarket Holidays has reported a bumper quarter for European escorted tour sales, with departures up by 66% against Q1 2022.

Top-performing destinations are the Scottish Highlands, Croatia and Italy, with a number of new tours launched over the past 12 months boosting the destinations' popularity over the last year.

To ensure agents can capitalise on the short haul demand, Newmarket Holidays is offering a 15% saving on a choice of European holidays until March 31, 2023, with departures from regional hubs in Aberdeen, Bournemouth, and Cardiff.

Richard Forde, head of trade sales, says that bookings have exceeded expectations: "We wondered whether holiday habits would change after the on-off nature of travel during lockdown and the cost-of-living crisis that has followed, but our booking trends for this year show that people are desperate to get away and don’t want to delay.

"This short haul campaign is a great opportunity for agents to capitalise on last-minute travel and secure bookings for the summer season."
