Ffestiniog Travel returns to India's railways after a three-year break

With 2023 marking the 170th anniversary of Indias first passenger train and Indias 75th anniversary of independence, Ffestiniog Travel is returning to the nation for its Indian Hill Railways Tour in February 2023.

Specialist rail tour operator Ffestiniog Travel has confirmed its return to India after a three-year pandemic-induced hiatus.

Its 'Indian Hill Railways' tour will depart in February 2023, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Ffestiniog's first 'Indian Hill Railways' tour, the 170th anniversary of India's first passenger train, and continue the celebrations for India's 75th anniversary of independence.

Ffestiniog Travel General Manager, Maria Cook said; “We are delighted to be returning to India on a very special tour, first devised 20 years ago, and in a special year for India's railways. It is a privilege to take travellers to ride the most exceptional railways that served the former British Hill Stations of Shimla, Darjeeling and Udhagamandalam (Ooty).

“This is one of our favourite rail holidays and our long-standing working relations with our Indian travel partners enable us to make it an unforgettable rail touring experience.”

The tour departs on February 12, 2023, with prices from £6,250 per person including return flights, all rail journeys, tranfers, and excursions, and bed-and-breakfast accommodation with select meals throughout.
