Explore's 'Treasures of Jordan' trip see 76% rise in bookings

Explore has seen bookings for its Treasures of Jordan trip increase by 76% year-on-year in 2019.

Jordan is becoming increasingly popular with travellers in search of adventure, culture and memorable experiences such as spending a night under the stars in Wadi Rum, visiting Petra by candlelight or riding a camel through the dramatic Siq el Barra.

Naomi Jackson, product manager for Africa and the Middle East for the operator, said: "The Middle East is hugely popular at the moment – our Treasures of Jordan trip, alongside our flagship Jordan Discovery, has been selling extremely well throughout 2019 and is showing no sign of slowing down for 2020. Travellers are looking for adventure as well as culture on our trips and Jordan offers both. Our Jordan Discovery trip is one of our most popular – travellers are really excited about Middle East travel right now, with its incredible history, delicious food and fascinating cultures."

Treasures of Jordan is a nine-day trip where guests will get an opportunity to explore Jordan's rich culture and heritage while staying in premium accommodation. They will visit Aszraq Castle, once the headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia and Amra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, take a guided tour of Petra and learn to make traditional Bedouin food before spending a night in a luxury tented camp overlooking the desert.

Prices start from £1,990 and include flights, premium accommodation, some meals and an Explore leader. Departures in March-May and September-December 2020.

Jordan Discovery trip saw a 33% rise in bookings in 2019. In this nine-day trip, guests will get a chance to float in the salty waters of the Dead Sea, explore the ancient 'lost' city of Petra and visit the Ancient Roman city of Jerash. They will stay overnight in a traditional camp in Wadi Rum and enjoy a traditional Bedouin barbecue.

Prices start from £1,699 per person, including flights, accommodation, some meals and an Explore leader. Departures year-round.
