Experience Anguilla virtually until its border reopens in August

The Anguilla Tourist Board has launched an audio-visual platform which offers visitors an opportunity to experience the best of Anguilla from home.

Experience Anguilla At Home is an immersive video and audio platform, which showcases all the best things of the island, to encourage tourism and attract future UK holidaymakers, as it has been exempted from the list of compulsory quarantine destinations.

There are as many as 20 videos and a curated Spotify playlist, on the Visit Anguilla website, which dwell on the food, music, beaches and beach sounds of Anguilla and allow the visitors to transport themselves virtually, to the Caribbean land, through lively sections of Anguilla Experiences, such as Food and Drinks to Make, Meditation and Motivation, Music and Culture, and Meet the Locals.

The island?s borders are scheduled to reopen around August 1 and all passenger movements are off-limits until July 30, except for medical emergencies and evacuations.

Travellers will be able to fly directly from Gatwick to Antigua, twice a week with British Airways from August 1, and then take a local air service across to Anguilla; or fly from the UK to St Maarten with Air France, and take a short boat ride to the island. Travellers can also reach the island by a private jet.

Shellya Webster, ATB manager of corporate affairs, said: ?With travel restricted due to COVID-19, we are excited to be offering visitors and fans a virtual experience of our beloved island. Research shows that people have become armchair travellers, they want to visit destinations virtually, and Experience Anguilla At Home offers a unique way for people to immerse themselves in our island. We hope travellers will find the much needed respite, relaxation and joy with our new platform ? which is what, attracts holidaymakers to Anguilla.?
