European Waterways has opened bookings for the 2020 season of Magna Carta hotel barge cruises which also include a tour of the Highclere Castle, featured in Downton Abbey film that is set to premiere in September this year.
The tour takes guests through many of the Highclere Castle rooms - the real-life setting for the popular drama, as seen on the TV programme - and lets them explore the estate?s expansive 1,000 acre parkland. It is part of the Classic Cruise aboard the deluxe, 8-passenger Magna Carta, which cruises the River Thames. Cabin bookings for 2020, lead in at ?3,190 per person, based on double occupancy.
Guests can also charter the entire vessel with friends and family for 2020, starting at ?23,800 for up to eight passengers. Chartered cruises also offer the possibility of an exclusive tour of Highclere Castle that includes meeting real members of the household and, possibly, Lady Carnarvon herself, the 8th Countess of Carnarvon and current resident.
Derek Banks, managing director of the cruise line, said: ?With both the popularity of the TV series and now the interest in the film this year, our 2019 cruises are all sold out but there is always next year!
?Highclere Castle looks magnificent on TV and is even more impressive in person, with the splendour of its rooms and the castle?s beautiful parkland, bringing the magnificence of the drama to life.
?Magna Carta?s excursion there shows how England?s aristocracy lived, however, our guests will also receive the ?royal treatment? while on the barge throughout the entire cruise. They?ll be catered to by an attentive crew, who will spoil them with elegant meals of fine wine and gourmet cuisine every night ? thanks to our on-board master chef ? making this cruise truly ?fit for a king and queen.??
Guests will also enjoy numerous additional excursions and immersive experiences along England?s historic River Thames.
